ADR Jumanji Project

Pre-Production

Here in the Tv/Film program our first project is to replace the ADR on a movie or tv show scene of our choice. What is ADR you may ask? ADR stands for automated dialogue replacement and our assignment is to take all the audio off of our movie seen and recreate the ADR.

Jocelyn, Luke and I decided to do a scene from Jumanji (2018) where they explain their strengths and weaknesses. We wanted to go more of a humorous route with characters that could fit our personalities. In this photo we are going over the script to get a feel for our characters and our lines.

Production

After a few days of preparation we are finally able to record our lines and recreate the ADR of our scene using garage band, music and folly.

Overall I believe we did an exceptional job of really getting into character and bringing the film back to life through with own creative twist.

Post-Production

My group and I finished replacing the ADR of the Jumanji scene and are editing and matching up our voices and folly to that of the movie. It’s looking really natural and professional and I believe that for our first time getting into depth with ADR we did a pretty good job!

To watch the end result of our new and improved Jumanji scene is entertaining and exciting to know that this is a great skill that we will continue to master for during later projects.
